NIKELAB Dunk Lux x RICCARDO TISCI: dunk schön

Riccardo Tisci, the Italian designer and creative director at Givenchy, was the first to announce on his Instagram feed a new collaboration with NikeLab, but now it’s official: on February 11 they are launching worldwide the NikeLab Dunk Lux x RT (estimated price around 275 euros).

So far, and after the reinvention of Air Force 1 ((low-top, mid and gladiator)) by Tisci in 2014, I like this version way more — I don’t usually wear basketball shoes (nobody is perfect) but I’ve have a crush on Nike Dunk: I love their 80’s vibe and how they have been adopted, since then, by so many different people. Dunk is not about fashion; it’s about urban culture.

Tisci remained true to the original spirit of it, but he has exaggerated the proportions — by extending the height and enlarging the Swoosh, foxing and eye stay, for example — and he has reversed the back tab (which is now placed directly above the Tisci logo on the heel). Apart from this, NikeLab has done its own magic and these Dunk Lux come with a full-grain leather upper, drop-in Lunarlon insole and, last but not least, a memory foam in the quilted leather collar and tongue.

On sale at NikeLab retailers and nike.com/nikelab.
